What do you do to improve how your lures travel?
What size line, swivels, trailers, stinger hooks…etc.
I’m most intrested in crankbaits, minnows, and spinnerbaits..but everything you got will be appreciated.
I appreciate the importance of tuning the crank bait but im more interested in tyhe line, swivels…leaders etc that might imporve the swim of the lure.
most anglers will use 6-8 lb test line usually with a steel leader or swivel and then spinner bait or crank bait. use a swivel or a learder as will improve movemenwt of you lure through the water
In clear water does hook color on crankbaits matter?
Trout can see 10x compared to humans and Walleye can see at night. Crankbaits imatate minnows .which color hook bronze, gold, black crome, crome, or red?
Not really a crankbait is usually struck by the feed or kill instinct unlike a worm where as a fish may follow a lure for a time before it picks it up.
But it some cases not yet proven certain times hook flash may spook any fish!
Crankbaits for shallow bass?
Ok i need some crankbaits for shallow bass. 3-6 feet of water. The water is pretty clear and low in vegetation. There’s some nice bass there. I want a crankbait small enough for 12 inch bass and not too small for 17 inch bass. It has to run no deeper than 5 feet. Or maybe even a topwater (not one of those fucking ribbit frogs, i hate those fucking things). The bass are really shy too. I would like the bait to have a color similar to a minnow. Any suggestions?
For what you have described I’d try casting these:
#1.) Rapala Husky Jerk Minnow model HJ08- (3 1/8″ 1/4 OZ- In color 21 “Silver”.) $5.79
#2.) Rebel Holographic Minnow -(3 1/2″ 5/16 OZ- In color Tennessee Shad Hologram.)$4.49
#3.) A Berkley Gulp “Shaky Worm” rigged on an 1/8 OZ weedless jig.( Colors? Watermelon/green glitter or Black)$5.99
#4.) A Gary Yamamoto 4″ Slim Senko- (Color? Green Pumpkin/Black Flake)$6.48 (Use a 2/0 offset hook.)
One of these 4 lures will easily do the job. Make sure to dowse all lures with a good fish attractant.

What are different uses for crankbaits and soft platics/swimbaits?
Like, An Xrap shad and a money minnow. what are different ways they can be used.
Ah, and as artie always points out my questions lack detail. Well, lets just say in general. Different uses for everything fishing related. Trolling, casting, pike, largemouth.
I would not throw the Xrap around weeds or anywhere it could get snagged that is where the money minnow would come in because it can be rigged weedless. they both could be used in the same situations but I would opt to use the money minnow in clear water. The Xrap is definitely a trolling bait, the money minnow would probably start to spin at trolling speeds. The Xrap would stand up to pike better than the money minnow. The hollow body plastic would get shredded in one strike and those things are a bit pricey. Both of these lures would shine in open water if worked over the top of weeds with the money minnow you could work through the weeds. A good rule of thumb is that if the water your fishing has a bunch of places to hang up in I would skip using a lure with 2 treble hooks on it or it’s just gonna cause problems unless you confident in using a square lip shallow crank that you can deflect off cover and that takes some finesse and practice to master.
what is the best thing to catch striped bass with?
i am not talkin about the kind that you find in the ocean lol. i live in ohio, and there is a big pond that my buddy fishes that has striped bass. he usually uses minnows, but i was goin ta try sum lures. wat are sum good colors, depths, and styles of lure? i usually use crankbaits and rooster tails.
Rooster tails are good.try Panther Martin spinners,probably silver.Blue Fox spinners if they sell them in your neck of the woods.Spoons will work well too,Little Cleo’s are good,Kastmasters work real well and they cast like a bullet if your working the shore line.Good Fish’n,awful good eating,yum.
