I have a true temper “Extendo” fishing rod that has a model # 521012 , 121/2 feet long.?
The rod has no mount for a reel, it telescopes. There are no ferrules but there is line guide at the tip. there are rubber end caps at both ends when retracted. The patent No. 2-787-484. How is this rod used? I’ve never seen one before. Thank you.

I’ve seen them in use and it sounds like the kind of rods small stream catfisherman use to pendulum a tied on line with extra line looped over your holding hand where you can let it out to get it to drop bait further away from where you are standing but still be able to pull the line in (like most fly fishermen who can not get the reel to bring in the line fast enough to keep a barbless hook set ) this way you are using the rods backbone to horse a small fish back toward you and up and onto shore. they were designed for small fish and stream fishing in back woods and thick cover.
